Deyan Sudjic

Deyan Sudjic is Director of the Design Museum in London. Founded in 1989, the Design Museum is the leading museum of modern and contemporary architecture and design.

Before joining the museum in 2006, Deyan was Dean of the Faculty of Art, Architecture and Design at Kingston University, visiting professor at the Royal College of Art and the Academy of Applied Art in Vienna and the Observer newspaper’s design and architecture writer. In 1999, he was Director of the Glasgow UK City of Architecture and Design programme and in 2002 he was Director of the Venice Architecture Biennale. He was Editor of Domus magazine from 2000 to 2004, and Founding Editor of Blueprint magazine from 1983 to 1996. Deyan has written many books on design and architecture, including The Edifice Complex (Penguin, 2006) The Language of Things (Penguin, 2008) Norman Foster: A Life in Architecture (Orion 2010). In 2004, Deyan was awarded the Bicentenary Medal of the Royal Society of Arts for the promotion of design and was made an honorary fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects. He was made an OBE in 2000.
