Guru Madhavan
Biomedical engineer and policy adviser
Guru Madhavan, FRSA, is a biomedical engineer and senior policy adviser. He is a program director at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine in Washington, DC. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. in biomedical engineering and an M.B.A. from the State University of New York. He has worked in the medical device industry as a research scientist developing cardiac surgical catheters for ablation therapy and has been a strategic consultant for technology startup firms and nonprofit organisations. He is a vice president of IEEE-USA of IEEE, the world’s largest society for engineering and technology. He has been named as a distinguished young scientist of the World Economic Forum.
