Paul Vallely

Paul Vallely is a writer and consultant on ethics & enterprise, aid & development and faith & religion. He is Visiting Professor in Public Ethics at the University of Chester, and a Senior Fellow at the Global Development Institute at the University of Manchester. He has worked as a journalist and campaigner in newspapers and with aid agencies, government and church organisations for more than two decades. He has produced award-winning reports from more than 30 countries in the developing world. He writes on political, cultural, ethical and religious issues in The Independent, Guardian, Church Times, and Third Way.
He is a former executive editor of the Independent on Sunday and leader-writer on The Independent. He has been editor of the Sunday Times News Review and of the Irish edition of the Sunday Times. He was Chair of the leading development think-tank, the Catholic Institute for International Relations (now Progressio) for six years. He was also Chair of the fair trade organisation Traidcraft and has worked with Christian Aid and Cafod.
