Sam Smethers

Sam Smethers is the Chief Executive of the Fawcett Society, a charity with a focus on advancing women’s rights and equality in Britain. Prior to her current role, Sam lead the organisation Grandparents Plus and championed the role that grandparents and the wider family play in children’s lives, driving this issue up the agenda. Throughout her time there, Sam maintained a gendered approach, evidencing the way in which older women in particular provide intensive care and support for their grandchildren and families.
