Tom O'Leary
Head of Public Engagement and Learning, UK Parliament
Tom is currently Head of Public Engagement and Learning at the UK Parliament where he leads a variety of programmes and initiatives to engage people with the work of Parliament.
Tom started working for Parliament in 2007 as Head of Education working on the transformation of the education provision. More recently with a shift in emphasis Tom is working on a TEDx Houses of Parliament event, Parliament Week and a range of other projects including Parliament’s anniversary programmes for WW1 in 2014 (100 years) and (De Monfort Parliament (750 yrs), and Magna Carta (800yrs) in 2015. Before this Tom worked at The UK National Archives (TNA) for 10 years in a variety of roles, finishing as Head of Online Services and Education. At TNA he was responsible for online services, education and the museum. Prior to this Tom taught history to 11 to 18 year olds in the state sector.
Tom is on the main board of trustees for Culture 24 and previously for the RAF Museum, where he chaired the Education and Research Committee. He is also a Fellow of the RSA and recently became a member of the advisory board for The Centre for Public History, Heritage and Engagement with the Past, Royal Holloway University.
