RSA Opening Minds promotes innovative and integrated ways of thinking about education and the curriculum. First developed in 2000, Opening Minds was created in response to concerns that the way in which schools were educating young people had become increasingly detached from their needs as learners, citizens and employees.
RSA Opening Minds supports learners to develop the skills and personal attributes demanded by business and higher education and wider society as essential for success in life.
Whilst RSA Opening Minds supports the statutory aims of any national curriculum, it promotes innovative and integrated ways of thinking about teaching and learning, tailored to the individual needs of schools and their students.
The RSA Opening Minds framework consists of twenty competences covering five broad domains of knowledge and skills.
- Managing Information
- Citizenship
- Learning
- Managing Solutions
- Relating to People
