Driving Ambition

Connecting schools and local businesses to help tackle youth unemployment.

A study by the Work Foundation has found that in the UK, youth unemployment (15 to 24 year olds) has increased at a faster rate over the course of the recession than both the European and OECD averages. The town of Banbury is not an exception to this rule. A number of local businesses have commented that students leaving the local schools are not well prepared for seeking jobs in the job market.  Driving Ambition is a collaborative project between RSA Fellows, Banbury schools and local businesses aiming to build mutually beneficial relationships between school and local employers and address this problem. It launched at an event in May 2012, supported by the local Banbury MP Tony Baldry FRSA and attracted around 30 businesses and Fellows.

HOW FELLOWS CAN HELP

The project already has a significant number of Fellows involved in this project, and the numbers are still growing.

Driving Ambition is seeking local Fellows to:

• Become advocates and screen the film to schools and businesses where they are
• Take part in the project broadly
• Help track and managing data to help measure its progress and demonstrate impact
• Extend the idea across other regions
