In the context of his innovative practice in the architecture of entertainment, production designer Mark Fisher presents Armies of Pleasure: the invisible logistics of stadium rock concerts. Mark explains the development of the industry and the technology that supports large-scale touring live entertainment.

Mark Fisher is an architect, founder and managing director of Stufish, the Mark Fisher Studio. He has designed shows, events and transformable architecture for a vast number of high-profile clients all over the world. Mark was Chief Designer of the opening and closing ceremonies of the Beijing Olympics 2008 and the Asian Games 2010 in Guangzhou and was an Executive Producer for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Opening and Closing ceremonies. He has designed entertainment venues in the UK and China, and twelve of the most complex stadium rock tours ever staged for clients including Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, and U2.

Prior to the Address, 8 new Royal Designers for Industry (RDI) and 4 Honorary RDI will be welcomed to the Faculty.
 
The title ‘Royal Designer for Industry’ was introduced by the RSA in 1936 to reward and promote a high standard of industrial design and enhance the status of designers. Now regarded as the highest accolade for designers in the UK, it is awarded annually to those who have achieved sustained design excellence, work of aesthetic value and significant benefit to society. A maximum of two hundred British designers may hold the award given by the RSA at any one time. Additionally, outstanding designers who are non-UK citizens may be Honorary Royal Designers.
