The importance of mental health to human wellbeing and the prosperity of the country has been well established – but what are the best preventative strategies to encourage a flourishing, healthy society?

Mindful Nation UK, a report by the Mindfulness All-Part Parliamentary Group (MAPPG), is a document of global significance, representing the first time that mindfulness training has been seriously considered as public policy. It is the result of a twelve month inquiry by MPs, peers and a supporting team of experts into how mindfulness can help meet societal objectives in four main policy areas – health, education, the workplace and criminal justice.

Chris Ruane, formerly Vale of Clwyd MPDr Jo Cook, lecturer in medical anthropology at UCL, and Jamie Bristow, director of the supporting advocacy group the Mindfulness Initiative, will present the findings and recommendations from the inquiry and explore why mindfulness may help to unlock human potential across such diverse areas of public life.
