Where can we find a coherent agenda for a better, fairer society – and how do we make it a reality?

The world stands at a cross-roads, in urgent need of a compelling vision that can renew faith in democratic and liberal ideals, and galvanize collection action towards a better future for all.

For economist and philosopher Daniel Chandler, the ideas we need right now are to be found in the work of one of the giants of 20th-century philosophy, John Rawls.

In Rawls, he argues, we have an unparalleled, as yet untapped intellectual resource, and the basis for a genuinely transformative progressive politics that matches up to the scale of our social, economic and ecological challenges.

Rawls offers us a map and compass for the journey to a future where democracy and economy are reinvigorated, prosperity is widely shared within the limits of our finite planet, and everyone has the chance to fulfil their potential.

Join Daniel Chandler at the RSA to explore how we might make this ‘realistic utopia’ possible, and the steps we need to take to land there.
