What makes our cities and towns unique in terms of history, geography, economy, and that all important USP: reputation?

In Manchester, we are launching an RSA Fellow-led project designed to distill the essence of the city's industrial past, radical tradition, and its recent resurgence through creative industries.

Join us for our first meeting to find out more, explore possibilities to get involved, and contribute your expertise. There will also be time to spark new conversations and network with local Fellows.

The event is open to all and free to attend. Please book your ticket in advance.

If you have any access requirements or require any reasonable adjustments, please contact the project leads: Sandy Wilkie FRSA and Rachel Griffiths FRSA

Location: Federation House, Federation Street, Manchester, M4 2AH.

More Information

The project will reflect on the role Manchester’s culture, history, and people have played in its development, seeking to define the consistent characteristics that have enabled the city’s vibrancy. Through evidence and research, we will be seeking to define the ‘Mancunian Way’, to distill the very essence of not what the city does but how it chooses to be.

Project purpose:

  • To learn more about the role of culture and people in the city’s development
  • To evidence those consistent characteristics which have led to the city’s performance over time
  • To understand the role that culture and characteristics will continue to play in its future performance.
  • To define the distinction that is the 'Mancunian Way’ in order to harness, celebrate, and consciously use those qualities.
