The economy affects everyone, but the jargon, graphs, and equations that surround economic policy leave most of us feeling disempowered and ill-equipped to participate.
The RSA Citizens’ Economic Council aims to democratise economics and show that everyone can participate in conversations and decisions about the economy if given a chance. At this event we will introduce the Citizens' Economic Council and the Economic Inclusion Roadshow before working through some activities developed to demystify economic ideas and encourage participation in a conversation that affects us all.
It will also provide an opportunity for participants to feed into this important conversation with our vision for a more inclusive and sustainable economy.
The event will be led by Jacqui Howard, Deputy Head of Engagement, and Kayshani Gibbon, Research Assistant for the Citizens' Economic Council programme, from the RSA.
This event is organised by the Plymouth Social Enterprise Network as part of a series of events focusing on social enterprise for an inclusive and sustainable economy.
The programme will bring together social entrepreneurs and others who are working towards a better economy via ideas such as local currencies, time banks, local food networks, community renewables, transition towns, worker co-ops, community businesses, socially engaged art, digital inclusion, open data, social justice, fair trade, participatory democracy, and more.
If you have any questions, or if you have any access requirements or require any reasonable adjustments, please email the RSA team: [email protected].
Location: Devonport Guildhall, Ker Street, Plymouth, PL1 4EL
