We are launching a Stirling Fellows’ group on Wednesday 5 September at 6pm. Jane Cameron, Curator of Art at the University of Stirling will give a talk on the University’s art collection and how it formed an integral part of its founders’ mission to bring a distinctive liberal arts perspective to Scotland’s higher education system.
The collection includes many distinguished works. It has the most significant collection of Fergusson’s outside Scotland’s public galleries, sculpture by Barbara Hepworth and an extensive collection of modern work by Scottish and international artists, including members of the St Ives School.
The talk will take place in the Pathfoot Building, one of the most important Scottish Modernist structures in the country. It will be followed by a reception hosted by the Principal Professor Gerry McCormac, himself an RSA fellow. This will take place in the Cottrell Building. In addition to meeting one another, fellows will be able to discuss how they would like to see the Stirling group develop.
