RSA Fellows and guests from across the private, public and third sectors are invited to register to hear Barbara Mills and Mark Elliott speak about the work of CivTech, and the options for collaboration between the private, public and third sectors across the Dumfries and Galloway and the future SOSE area.
BARBARA MILLS: A key member of the CivTech team, Barbara leads on all aspects of Challenge development, helping Challenge Sponsors get the most out of the CivTech Programme. She’s led the delivery of Olympic venues, run her own business, and consulted on innovation for organisations including the French Atomic Energy Commission. She has also experience of working in the Cabinet Office. She’s passionate about the wider impacts CivTech can make including those centred on young people and the rural economy. In these respects she helped devise and oversaw the first ever citizen-sourced Challenge, centred on young people’s mental wellbeing, and is currently driving CivTech’s biggest ever Challenge with five teams in the CivTech 4.0 Accelerator looking to maximise the effectiveness of the nation’s tree seed bank for Forest and Land Scotland.
MARK ELLIOTT: Mark Elliott has extensive experience in building and delivering Accelerator programmes, coaching and mentoring start-ups and entrepreneurs. His current ambition is "to lead a brilliant team driving daring and innovation in the public sector by collaboratively solving challenges that make people’s lives better. " Delegates may also like to know that Mark is or recently has been also involved in consultancy in the UK and internationally. He has been involved in StoryWorld Productions, Ghosti Limited (offering evidence-based insight, strategic advice, realisable plans and hands-on practical help). Recent projects have included work for Newcastle upon Tyne, Turkey, and the Barbados Government. Expertise has been gained in the raising of millions of pounds for capital projects and delivery. His aim, he says, "is always to always to cut through the noise, see things anew, and harness the insights allowing one to make a difference".
