A panel of designers and creatives will discuss how the global pandemic is helping to reimagine what a truly inclusive community of creatives can look like in a Covid/After Covid world.

Ric Grefé FRSA, Chair of the Board of RSA US, and Ve Dewey FRSA will respectively host and moderate a panel of designers and creatives who will discuss what design truly is, how to create a truly inclusive community (and not simply talk about it) and what place design has in the new world After Covid (AC).

Panelist biographies:

  • Joanna Choukier PhD, is the Director of Design and Innovation at the RSA. She is responsible for championing how design for social innovation is applied across the RSA community and programs to create a better future. Click here for her full staff biography.
  • Agustín G. Garza was born and raised in Mexico City and relocated to the United States to study Fine Arts and Graphic Design. A former member of the AIGA National Board, his firm, The Garza Group, has created comprehensive branding programs in the US and Latin America. His lifelong interests in anthropology, and in the role of design as a force for change, have led him to travel extensively to areas where isolated cultures are struggling to preserve their heritage.
  • Elizabeth Tunstall PhD, is the Dean, Faculty of Design at OCAD University in Toronto, Ontario - the first Black woman to hold such a position. At her core she is a design anthropologist, public intellectual, and design advocate who works at the intersections of critical theory, culture, and design. Click here for her wikipedia page.

RSA US Virtual Salons typically occur on the third Thursday of each month; they aim to create open dialogue and a space for RSA US Fellows to connect across geography over the issues of our times. Join a Salon to get to know other RSA US Fellows and our interests, passions, and perspectives. Salons are supported through the moderation of a volunteer to ensure that a diversity of voices are heard. We invite all Fellows to join this discussion to deepen the ways we can connect with each other across the country!

To access the log-in details to join this free event, please register in advance. Zoom information will be shared 48 hours, 2 hours, and 10 minutes prior to the event start time.
