RSA Fellows and Friends in the Nordic countries are warmly invited to an online discussion and debate of environmental justice themes, based on RSA Journal Issue 4 2021.
In this one-hour session we’ll start with a brief introduction to some of the key themes, before inviting discussion and debate from the group. We’ll especially reflect on Nordic country perspectives (similarities, differences, innovations and case studies) with a view to writing a short blog piece to feature on the RSA platforms after the event.
If this format is successful, we hope to develop and adopt it as the basis for similar events throughout the year or even as a template for other local or regional Fellowship events worldwide.
Thomas Jelley, a dual French-British Fellow living in Finland since 2018, has offered to facilitate discussion and debate around these articles from the RSA Journal (Issue 4 2021):
- What does ‘regenerative’ thinking mean? an article by Josie Warden (page 27). This article argues that to shape an equitable future we must find a new way of imagining our place within the world, one where everything is connected.
- The shape of green to come, an article by Jamie Kendrick and Beatrice White (page 36). This article argues that the resurgence of green politics in Europe speaks of the increasingly central place of ecological justice in public consciousness.
- Post-industrial schooling, an article by Joe Hall (page 38). This article argues that we need a new model of education that gives young people the skill and understanding to address the collective challenges faced by humanity.
- Constructing a regenerative future, an article by Daniel Christian Wahl (page 43). This article argues that moving away from constant growth and instead investing in the potential of people and places is key to addressing the climate crisis.
