Please join us for an exciting discussion about climate action challenges for creatives

Questions on a wide diversity of challenges including climate change are in fact anticipated, given the range of expertise of the panel! The RSA looks forward to welcoming RSA fellows and guests, in addition to members of CABN (the Scottish Borders Creative Arts Network). The RSA is particularly delighted once again to be supporting CABN by hosting this event.

The panel includes Mary Michel, Jane Morrison-Ross and Lucy Brown. The prior submission of questions is encouraged, so trends in concern may be recorded. This will also facilitate grouping the questions. Please send these by 1200 noon on Monday 27th March 1200 to the organiser via [email protected]

There is parking in roads near the fully-accessible Trinity Centre. Bus services 61, 67 and 68 stop just outside the Centre, which is also served by Tweedbank Station (a 15-20 minute walk). Light refreshments will be served on arrival and attendees are requested to advise any clinical dietary need by 1200 on Monday 27th March.

Mary Michel is the Director of Ostrero, which aims to grow the Circular Economy in Scotland through a variety of projects, including Making Circles, a series of circular design and making workshops for schools, universities and organisations across Scotland. She has recently been working with Edinburgh University and Edinburgh Napier University on Creative Cred, a research project exploring how to incentivise sustainable and circular practices in the Creative Industries. Mary was previously Director of the Incorporation of Goldsmiths and Scottish Goldsmiths Trust, where she encouraged sustainable practice for makers by founding the Ethical Making Resource. Mary is originally from the Scottish Borders but now lives in Edinburgh.

Jenny Fausset is Climate Change Officer for the Scottish Borders Council. Jenny has worked in the public sector primarily on policy development and projects in the environmental and sustainability sectors and latterly on climate change. Key interests include knowledge exchange, carbon foot printing, climate resilience and collaboration with organisations not directly involved with environment/net zero.

Louise Cox is from the Planning Division of the Scottish Borders Council. With over 25 years of experience working within the environment sector, Louise Cox continues to develop her interest and skills across a range of activities, both at work and in her local community. After completing studies at Glasgow University, Louise moved to the Scottish Borders to work with Scottish Natural Heritage in a range of land use advisory roles. After this, she moved to Scottish Borders Council to develop a corporate environmental management programme. This work included extensive partnership activity, supporting the Scottish Borders Rural Partnership, Community Planning Partnership and a range of local community groups and networks. The emphasis for Scottish Borders Council has evolved with national policy. Current focus on environmental activity is around climate resilience, Just Transition to net zero and biodiversity protection. Most recently, key priorities include working with partners to support the local energy services supply chain, development of a Council Climate Change Route Map and support for net zero activities across the Edinburgh City Region and Borderlands Inclusive Growth Deals.
