The world as it is: fragile, unbalanced, degenerative. The world as it could be: resilient, rebalanced, regenerative. Explore with us how particular perspectives on challenge and change can help build flourishing futures for people, places and the planet.

In this interactive events series, we share insights from the RSA’s Design for Life mission, including six perspectives we consider core to regenerative change: systemic, imaginative, adaptive, collective, long-time and local to global. How might we invite these perspectives into all our work to transform our economic, social and environmental systems to be more conducive to life?

We spotlight where these perspectives are being applied within a range of work-in-progress ‘interventions’ by the RSA, as well as by our Fellows and partners to imagine and pursue better futures. Join us to discuss what we’re doing, what we’re learning, and what shows up in your own changemaking work.

At this event, Roberta Iley (RSA Head of Regenerative Design) will introduce the Design for Life capabilities enquiry. We know that businesses across the world need to urgently shift the dial to contribute to a 'regenerative economy' where the interests of business, community and environment are viewed and met as a whole. Many businesses have already set ambitious targets around ESG, social impact and sustainability but turning intention into impact is challenging. We know that focussing on establishing new governance structures, incentives and KPIs is necessary but not sufficient to shift behaviours and cultures across the workforce. In November 2022, The RSA set out our enquiry by asking - ‘What capabilities (skills, knowledge, mindsets, values, and worldviews) do we need to transition and contribute to a regenerative economy?’

Guest speaker and RSA Fellow, Sarah Gillard, will share her experience both from driving the purpose agenda at the John Lewis Partnership, and more recently as CEO of Blueprint for a Better Business, supporting businesses to become truly purpose-led.

Presentations from our speakers will be followed by an opportunity for questions and discussion.

These are hybrid events: you can take part in-person or online. Join us on The Steps in The Coffee House – an opportunity to meet others and grab something to eat or drink before, during or after the event. Or connect to The Coffee House online, from wherever you are in the world, via Zoom.

We welcome all changemakers who are interested from different fields and disciplines, within and beyond our RSA Fellowship community.
