Italy is going a period of economic change, fuelled by the covid-19 pandemic, where once locally centred and family-run businesses are now seeking growth outside of the Italian market. Language skills are a key element of this transition and have been lacking in the past.
This forum will explore the importance of developing language skills, specifically English, from the experience of running a language support service in the heart of the Marche region of Italy. Drawing on the expertise and experiences in the fields of academia, cultural development and business, the event will explore the challenges and opportunities of growing a business in the global market, and the impact that those businesses can have in developing their local communities.
The members of the panel are:
- Michele Gobbi - Technical Manager, ACO S.p.A.
- Marta Jakob - Professor of Organisation Studies, Università di Milano Bicocca
- Neil Pennock FRSA - Director, NEC International Language Support SRLS
- Lucia Pierini - Co-Owner, Plexi SRL
- Paolo Sabbatini - Italian Special Ambassador for Cultural Affairs
