RSA Catalyst supported project Handmade Alliance has just been awarded the Charity Times Social Champion Award for 2015.

The award, given on the 7th October, recognised their “impressive use of the social enterprise model to develop participants’ skills and opportunities, whilst working with design clients to develop the market”.

Mairi Duthie FRSA, CEO/Founder stated: “It is a huge honour to receive recognition for the hard work that we do. We dedicate this award to the team members who are in prison rather than here tonight.”

Since 2012 HA have made a great contribution to the social enterprise arena in London. Based in Islington, HA works with serving and ex-prisoners to turn their lives through creative textiles training and employment. Such opportunities can dramatically improve their chance to reintegrate successfully into society. This takes place in their textiles manufacturing business where they provide a bespoke made-to-measure service for interior designers.

The achievements of HA have been recognised through various awards including: The Business in the Community, Responsible Small Business ‘Big Tick’ 2014, Big Tick re-accreditation 2015, an RSA Catalyst Award, Redemption and Justice Awards Nominees 2015.

Come see for yourself and pick up some early Christmas gifts at the HA Open Day on November 12th at their Old Street offices (27 Dingley Place, EC1V 8BR).
