Following on from the successful cross-border RSA Scotland/RSA North East event on Tourism at Bowhill in 2016, Heritage and Innovation: A Cross-Border Event has been set up by the RSA Fellows' Borders and MCICH Networks to mark Scotland's Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology (YHHA).

The event is on Tuesday 3 October from 13:30 - 18:30.

The speakers will each make, sequentially, a short presentation to provoke debate around a variety of subjects which may not have been widely aired during YHHA. The event's featured speakers and themes are:

  • Sustainable Architecture: Richard Atkins RIBA FRIAS FRSA, Architect, and representing SEDA
  • Built Environment & Communities: Neil Baxter HonRIBA HonFRIAS FRSA, Secretary, RIAS
  • Making-up history - New Europeans?: Graham Bell FRSA, Director, NECT, Newcastle
  • Forestry, Resilience and CALEDON [digital game*]: Dr Max Coleman, RBGE & SEFARI
  • Easter Bush Campus - Infrastructure Investment for an Innovation Environment: John Mackenzie, CEO
  • Beremeal, Bannocks & Social Enterprise: Scott Mackenzie, Freedom Bakery
  • Food Heritage & Current Innovations: Fiona Richmond, Project Manager, Scotland Food and Drink
  • From Yarns to Boardroom: Dawn Robson-Bell, Lochcarron of Scotland
  • Past and Future Crops: Joanne Russell, SEFARI and James Hutton Institute
  • Textile Archives - Legacy Resource & International Influence: Hamish Carruthers, Carruthers Associates

The aim is inter-disciplinary debate to explore possible new partnerships and maybe even a project to submit to the RSA Scotland Venture Fund or RSA Catalyst.

The event starts with registration and concludes with a meal. All are welcome - we're particularly keen to hear from Fellows from the North of England. If you would like to register or have any questions, please contact Ann Packard via email [email protected] or telephone: 0131 556 2052.
