The RSA has a vast alumni of talented designers who have emerged from the long-standing RSA Student Design Awards programme (SDAs).

Over the past few months we have been researching and re-connecting with former winners who have won awards since the SDAs began in 1924. The aim is to develop an RSA Student Design Awards Alumni network to enable the alumni to connect with others, and share ideas and expertise to amplify and promote the positive impact of design.

If you are a former winner of the RSA Student Design Awards (also previously known as the RSA Design Bursaries and RSA Design Directions) and would like to join this alumni network, please contact Design Network Manager, Melanie Andrews on [email protected]

Former winners: design thinking in action

Ethan Howard, an RSA Student Design Awards alumnus from 2017, has secured £10,000 in seed funding from the O2 Environment Now partnership to take forward his SDA project. Ethan worked on a brief sponsored by RBS last year who have also been helping him to further develop his idea.

Ethan is now hoping to develop an ‘insights forum’ where 8 people who are 60+ become volunteers in helping to shape bare tech’s approach and direction.

We are looking for volunteers who are 60+ of any ability to become founding members of our community. As a founding member you will join our ‘insights forum’, providing rigorous critique on our ideas and having your suggestions implemented right at the start of our design process. Although the role won’t be very time consuming, we are looking for people that are proactive and engaged.

If you know potential volunteers or would like to be involved yourself, please refer to this advert for more information.

  • I might be interested if I knew what on earth bare tech was? Why is there always this assumption that because you know what you are proposing every body else must do too!
