SLVC 'English 4 Refugees' is a philanthropic programme offered to global refugees to help them learn the basics of the English language as they are thrust into a new country and needing to navigate life in a new language.

The programme is run by an army of volunteers from around the world, consisting of Certified English Language Teachers and Conversation Partners. The programming and curriculum is carefully and intentionally curated with empathy in mind, as participants are suffering from all levels of trauma. They are building an inclusive and supportive global community for refugee participants.

Every refugee receives 3 hours of language training a week, in an organised group with an assigned teacher volunteer and they also have the option to sign up for a 1:1 Conversation Partner who practices speaking with them for 1 to 2 hours a week during their 8-week programme. Since the programme started in mid-March, there have been over 500+ registrants in the first 3 weeks.

They are looking for Conversation Partner volunteers who speak English at a native or advanced level, who can spare 1 to 2 hours a week to help a refugee participant improve their English speaking skills. They are also looking for Certified English language teachers who can teach 3 hours a week over an 8-week period.
