Celebrating the 2015 RSA Student Design Awards & Design for Social Innovation.
Join us for this special event celebrating the 2015 RSA Student Design Awards programme and the burgeoning design for social innovation movement, with a keynote speech by past winner, leading industrial designer and founding director of PriestmanGoode, Paul Priestman.
The RSA Student Design Awards challenges emerging designers to tackle pressing social, environmental and economic issues through design thinking. Our goal is to empower a generation of savvy, employable designers who understand the potential of design to benefit society, and we do this by running an annual Awards programme that challenges students and recent graduates to think differently about design, through tackling briefs focused on real-world problems.
After winning two consecutive RSA Awards Paul Priestman went on to set up PriestmanGoode, leading on a wide range of transport and product design projects. From London tubes to high speed trains, aircraft interiors and the World View space capsule, Paul is known for his award-winning future design concepts – ideas that aim to improve people’s everyday lives and encourage sustainable, long-term thinking.
Paul will share his journey as a designer, followed by an audience Q&A chaired by the RSA Student Design Awards’ Director Sevra Davis, and a presentation of the 2015 Awards by Master of the Royal Designers for Industry Malcolm Garrett.
The event will be followed by a drinks reception in the RSA’s Benjamin Franklin Room.
