Last year, the RSA Food Farming & Countryside Commission went on a seven-month bike tour of the UK. Why?
To hear about the many, often invisible, facets of life in our rural communities:
- the pride in place and landscape
- how differing perceptions define land use and purpose
- the traditions and innovations driving change
- the complexity of challenges to effective policy making.
We listened to people in their homes and at work, upending conventional processes of consultation and heard rich and vivid accounts of rural life across the UK.
We’ve brought these journeys together in a limited-edition book, Fork in the Road.
A companion to the Commission Report due out in July 2019, Fork in the Road captures the diverse range of rural issues which the Food, Farming & Countryside Commission has touched on throughout its enquiry.
