Louise Casey, commissioner for victims and witnesses

Louise Casey, recently appointed Commissioner for Victims and Witnesses, gave her inaugural speech at the RSA.

Coming to the post with a wealth of experience of how, for good and bad, the criminal justice system engages with the public at large, Louise sets out her early impressions of how victims are treated by that system.

Known for her outspoken comments on social policy, Louise looked at the extent to which previous pledges to put victims 'at the heart of the of the criminal justice system' are a reality both for those who experience crime and for the public services which dispense criminal justice today.
