Tehmina Durrani is one of Pakistan’s most high profile women’s rights activists and successful writers. Her bestselling first book My Feudal Lord, published in 1991, depicts the difficulties and abuse inflicted on her during her first marriage to a prominent political figure in Pakistan, and how she reconciled her faith in Islam with her ardent belief in women's rights.
Her second book A Mirror To The Blind is the biography of Abdul Sattar Edhi, a renowned welfare worker in Pakistan, as narrated to her during three years in which she lived at Edhi’s home and accompanied him on his work running the Edhi Welfare foundation. Visit the Edhi Foundation website.
Interviewed at the Karachi Literature Festival, she discusses the issues of women and equality in Pakistan today, and her time with Abdul Sattar Edhi and his wife Bilquis Edhi.
