From coming to the UK as a child, holding down two jobs and studying in between, Shfaat has become a High Street success story.
This is the story of Shfaat Hussain, who lives in North London. Hussain, now 59 years old, came to Britain from Rawalpindi in Pakistan as a child. He talks about growing up in London and the many different jobs he had as a young man, often working in two jobs at once and having to find time to study in between, a familiar narrative among his generation of British Pakistanis. He has now started his own shoe business Mirza Uk Ltd, a major supplier of shoes to Britain’s High street retailers.
