Co-designing a digital ecosystem that improves the ease and frequency of opportunity to engage with the RSA and other Fellows.
We are undertaking a user-centred project to define and develop new digital services for Fellows.
The first phase of the project ran from June – December 2021. Here we defined a clear end-to-end digital ecosystem for Fellows supported by research, insights and prototype solutions that are tested and iterated with Fellows. Building on the Fellow-led Digital Summit in 2020 and existing research, the target digital ecosystem will seek to “improve the ease and frequency of opportunity to engage with the RSA and with other Fellows” and meet the diverse needs of Fellows.
Starting in 2022, entering the delivery phase of the project (Beta), we are focused on enhancing existing digital services and implementing the recommendations from the Alpha phase with new collaboration spaces and an online experience to help improve how Fellows engage and contribute to the RSA work and collaborate with other Fellows.
The testing phase began in May 2022, where we are working with different groups of Fellows to continually iterate and improve the development of the new services before rolling out to all Fellows.
The Beta phase is working to deliver a clear and compelling offer, personalised content and a joined up digital experience for Fellows. Enabling and encouraging higher levels of engagement from Fellows and allowing them to make connections and contribute to a diverse range of social impact initiatives.
We are commited to putting the needs of the Fellows first and are engaging with Fellows throughout projects with regular ‘Show & Ask’ sessions and targeted workshops, in addition to ongoing communication and updates about the project.

Watch the highlights of the Alpha Show and Ask sessions
In Show and Asks we invite Fellows to share their feedback and ask questions about the project.
This highlight reel features Fellows opinions on: what they require from the platform, how they want to connect digitally and what they are most excited about.
Prior to the commencement of this project, the RSA launched a new website and brand identity - a first step towards improving the online experience for both Fellows and non-Fellows.
At the same time we also undertook a major research project on our Fellowship, culminating in insights and recommendations for how to best support the diverse needs of our Fellows across all touchpoints.
In October 2020, a co-designed, Fellow-led Digital Summit brought together expertise from across the Fellowship to discuss what the RSA's digital future could look like. The resulting report, produced by Ann Longley FRSA with the support of a working group and participants at the Summit, was published in February 2021.
