Fellows help raise 65k for Impact Hub

Part innovation lab, part business incubator, and part community centre, Impact Hubs are taking the world by storm. 

On January 10, Impact Hub Birmingham co-founded by a team of five including Immy Kaur and Daniel Zastawny FRSA, smashed through its 50k target on Kickstarter and will now begin to build a collaborative space for the local community in Digbeth, Birmingham.

Motivated by a desire to transform the environment they work in and the city itself, the team set its ambitious target not realising that they would beat it by £15,095. Raising an astonishing £65,095, a wider maker team was involved to ensure the project's success, including Fellowship Councillor Lorna Prescott and Anisa Haghdadi FRSA. 

The funds will go towards creating a scholarship fund for Impact Hub Birmingham to incubate great ideas, projects and people. After months of scouring for the ideal venue, the team happened across the Walker Building in the Digbeth area, which is where the hub will now be based. The venue is 6,000 sq feet and will be split into work areas, events space, a cafe and meeting rooms. 

If you work or live in Birmingham you can become a member of the hub which will give you access to the workspace was well as the opportunity to shape and the events and contents its delivers and the chance to become part of a community network that is changing the landscape of the city. No doubt, it will also become a key meeting space for Fellows in 2015.
