Learn from and engage with successful Freelancers at ‘The Freelancers Forum!’

Fellowship news

The Freelancers Forum is a get-together organised especially for people who are out there, forging their own unique path through the world of work. Join fellow RSA Fellows and the freelancing community at the first event in Dublin on Thursday 4 October. A series of unique meetups will follow over the coming months.

It’s being conceived, designed, and run by freelancers, for freelancers. It will bring together all the unique flavours of freelancing and create a space where mixing, learning, collaborating, and inspiration are possible.

The gig-economy, freelancing, the independent sector is already here – you might call it “the future of work”. Our event caters to those in professional and creative spaces. There is precious little out there that brings all the aspects of the life of independent working together in one place at one time, and as we may well know face to face interaction is priceless. Add fun and learning on top of that and there is a real potential for magic to happen.

This is a collaboration between Peter O’Brien of Happenings (renowned for creating events with social responsibility at their core) and Michael Donnelly FRSA of Second Nature (providing professional facilitation and strategic workshops) and brings together people who are at the top of their fields to share insights into how to ‘make it’ as a freelancer. With talks, presentations, surgeries and panel discussions The Freelancers Forum will cover topics from technology to collaboration and personal health to policy that affects freelancers.

Fabian Wallace-Stephens, Researcher in the RSA’s Future Work Centre, will speaking about his research on how groups of self-employed people around the world are banding together to overcome some of the challenges they face in the labour market.
