Trustee Call for Nominations

The Trustee Board is pleased to welcome nominations for four elected Trustee Roles in the forthcoming election and AGM cycle.

Peter Fell and Kully Thiarai are stepping down; additionally Jan Portillo and Philippa Wilson both stand to be elected for potential second terms. Therefore the Trustee Board welcomes nominations for two additional Trustees. Nominees are invited to apply by submitting a recent CV and an accompanying letter setting out in a 250 election statement why they should be elected as a Trustee.

In addition, applicants are also required to include the names and Fellowship membership numbers of ten Fellows who support their nomination. Those standing for election and are wishing to be considered for recommendation under bye-law 3.14, must additionally set out which of the criteria below they consider they meet with reference to their past experience.

These nominations are subject to bye-law 3.14, and therefore are permitted to potential selection in accordance with the audit carried out by the Nomination and Governance Panel of Board skills. The Board have identified the following expertise:

  • Education Specialist with a track record of leadership experience in either the primary or secondary school UK sectors and a willingness to sit on both the Board of the RSA but also its sister charity RSA Academies.
  • Arts and Culture Senior Experience in a leadership role with knowledge of Community and/or Democratic Involvement.
  • Additionally while both Jan Portillo and Philippa Wilson are looking to re-stand Fellows are able to put themselves forward for the roles that they cover and will be considered under bye-law 3.14, with a the recommendations made to Fellows, as below:
  • Jan Portillo has expertise in coaching and human resource management. She takes lead for on behalf of by the Board for HR responsibility and provides support to the Executive and HR teams. She additionally sits on the RSA US Board and will sit on the Remuneration Committee from 2019.
  • Philippa Wilson has expertise in management consulting and the dot.com sector. She is supporting the Chair as part of the Strategic Review Group currently co-ordinating the RSA’s strategic review and sits on the A&R committee picking up with a focus on IT risk and other matters.
