Your skills needed for new diaspora leadership programme

Diaspora ChangeMakers is a new RSA project which provides networking and personal development opportunities to 100 potential leaders from the African Diaspora.

From a range of backgrounds and ages, the ChangeMakers share a connection to the African continent, and a desire to use their skills and influence to help drive social change, either among UK-based African diaspora communities or in Africa. The ChangeMakers are working on a huge variety of projects, from health initiatives to literacy programmes, refugee support to fair trade.

From March, the network of ChangeMakers will start building personal development plans to help grow their social enterprises, international development initiatives and community projects. Access to the wealth of skills and knowledge of the Fellowship will be a key asset to the network, and we are excited about the potential for interaction and knowledge exchange between the existing Fellowship and the new ChangeMaker network.

We would be very interested to hear from any Fellows who might be interested in supporting our ChangeMakers to have a bigger social impact. Over the next year of the Diaspora ChangeMakers programme, there may be opportunities for experienced Fellows from any background to share their expertise through mentoring, coaching, giving talks, running classes or workshops.

Anybody who is interested should come forward, but we are particularly keen to hear from Fellows who can share knowledge in the following areas:

  • Public speaking
  • Building a social enterprise
  • Fundraising/attracting business investment
  • Online skills (simple web design and social networking)
  • International development
  • Networking

If you want to get involved, please register using the online form via RSA SkillsBank, making sure you have indicated you are interested in the Diaspora Changemakers.

If you have any questions about the project please contact Matthew Parsfield at [email protected]
